November 25, 26, 27 AND December 2, 3, 4, 2022
Like any art form, movement theater has its rules. In the physical acting workshop, we will apply these rules through various games and improvisations. We will explore playing in major and minor, the bodys’ halt in space, rhythms, restraint, suspension, the actor’s pleasure, impulses, complicity, balancing the stage space, notions of working with stage presence and the support of play via the neutral mask. Ensemble work will be approached through choral exercises. We will develop a basic vocabulary to facilitate communication in research, rehearsal and performance situations. The workshop is led by co-artistic directors Andréanne Joubert and Yves Simard.

May 5, 6, 7 + 12, 13, 14, 2023
Explore the permeable border that separates the red nose from the actor who thinks he’s hiding behind it, and the tractations that this situation engenders. During the clowning workshop directed by Jackie Gosselin, you will be asked to participate in various games from which we will identify certain elements that are conducive to the actor’s presence on stage. Then, starting with directed improvisations, we will begin to explore your clowning. This is a very rigorous research with precise rules. Finally, if there is generosity and humility, there will also be the laughter of others, that essential element for the survival of clowns. The laughter that allows the clown to remain on stage. This laughter, provoked by so many gawkinesses, sends each spectator back to his own fragility. It will then be up to you to take good care of these fragile beings and allow them to exist a little more.

Spring 2023 – Dates to be confirmed
We are back for a third year with the acrobatic research workshop orchestrated by Nicolas Germaine. During this 30 hour workshop, we will unpack, deconstruct and creatively reassemble known basic acrobatic movements to explore their possibilities. Nicolas Germaine is a master in the art of taking us out of our comfort zones in movement to push ourselves artistically. The bank of tools and exercises he has developed over the years are a perfect match for DynamO Théâtre’s research work.

Spring 2023 – Dates to be confirmed
22-23 additional workshop. We are honored to welcome the founding members of Affair of Honor, a Vancouver-based movement theater company specializing in stage combat. Nathania Bernabe and Jackie T Hanlin will offer a 30 hour experience in various forms of combat, combining fun and rigor!
