Premiere in 2024
An international co-production between DynamO Théâtre and Marphy's Play House in Chengdu, China, SPARK is a story in which we follow the journey of Wenwen, a young girl who tries to follow her dreams despite family constraints. This creation emphasises the place of young Chinese women in their society and deals with the choices and issues involved in educating girls.
Yves Simard, Co-Artistic Director of DynamO Théâtre, is working closely with Marphy Cai, Artistic Director of Marphy's Play House, on this collaborative project.
The creative process will take place in several phases between June 2021 and July 2024. The first creative phases will be carried out and developed in Quebec by a team from DynamO théâtre - dramaturgy, set design and development of the physical and choreographic language (physical storyboard).
Work with the Chinese team will take place in two phases: creation of a first version of the show in September 2023 and the final version in spring 2024.
SPARK will tour China in 2024-25.
